Children with cancer are smiling today at a Flashes of Hope shoots. Our dedicated volunteer chapter directors coordinate photo shoots within the nation's top hospitals and at special events for children with cancer. Whether photographing one child isolated in a bone marrow unit or a hundred kids having fun at summer camp, it's an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
Pat, a pediatric oncology nurse for over 32 years, loves to interact with the families in her retirement. To Pat, volunteering for Flashes of Hope is a blessing that allows her to meet new children and stay connected with her past patients.
She is a frequent volunteer at Children's Medical Center Dallas, Camp John Marc, holiday parties and family camps. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and making her retirement all it can be.
Jodie's family discovered Flashes of Hope in 2009 while on a family trip to a Pediatric Cancer Camp for families. Her family was on their own pediatric cancer journey with one of her twin daughters. The beautiful photo package she received was such a blessing to her family and she instantly knew that Dallas needed a Flashes of Hope chapter. She and her husband, Mark, decided they had to volunteer and give back to other families. She was named Chapter Director in 2009.
The Dallas chapter started with camp send-offs in the summer as the kids and expanded to hospital shoots. Jodie truly enjoys seeing the kids and their families light up in the pictures and capture a special moment in time.
Jodie, a realtor, is the mother of twin pre-teen daughters and a wife to Mark. Her family stays extremely buys with the girls' activities and other volunteer work. She currently service as the Family Services Manager for Habitat for Humanity of Denton County, has previously served on other pediatric cancer boards and been involved in various fundraising organizations.
