You don't get a second chance to capture a once-in-a-lifetime moment. That's why Flashes of Hope works exclusively with the best professional photographers in the country, all of who donate their time and talent.
A volunteer photographer is required to be or have been a working professional photographer with either commercial or portrait photography experience.
Members in the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) or American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) is very helpful but not necessary to be approved as a volunteer photograhger. Professional photographers who are not members of a photography association will be considered by approval by sharing an online portfolio of work showcasing portraiture and studio lighting. Photographers using only natural light will be considered for special outdoor shoots at pediatric cancer camps and special outdoor shoots.
Photographers shooting at a hospital location are required to have full location equipment including an 8' x 10' muslin backdrop or roll paper and backdrop stands, at least two (2) off camera studio strobes with light modifiers (i.e. umbrella or soft box), and a professional camera system with various focal length lenses.
